Welcome to EFA News, dear advocates and partners,

In February, the #EFACommunity presented the policy recommendations on 'Raising the Standards of Care for COPD in Europe' at the European Parliament, with strong calls from MEPs Romana Jerković, Tilly Metz, and András Kulja, for urgent EU action on early detection of COPD and policies for lung health. Our community discussed with several MEPs actions for better COPD, having the national perspectives from EFA patients’ leaders from across the region and integrating these into EU-wide health priorities.

We are now looking ahead to gather the membership in Ljubljana for the 2025 EFA Annual General and Community Meeting from 24-26 March. Together with our hosting member Društvo Atopijski Dermatitis, we have crafted an engaging programme that highlights what truly matters to allergy, asthma and COPD patients.

Thank you all for your ongoing support and I look forward to seeing many of you in Ljubljana!

On the 4-5 February, the organisations of the European Lung Health Group came together at the European Parliament to raise awareness about respiratory diseases and call for EU action on lung health.

Thanks to an interactive exhibition and lung testing organised by Lungs Europe, the European level respiratory patient organisations, including Alpha-1 Europe Alliance, Cystic Fibrosis Europe, the European Pulmonary Fibrosis Federation, Tuberculosis Europe Coalition, and EFA, we marked the relaunch of the MEP Lung Health Group.

Discussions focused on the need for better prevention, diagnosis, and care to #KeepBreathing, with a dedicated roundtable on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

EFA Community illustrates why EU Member States should implement the new Air Quality Directive

At the EU Healthy Air Coalition’s Policy Outlook event, EFA highlighted that air pollution is a health crisis for millions with respiratory conditions. Through patient testimonies and a plea for urgency, the #EFACommunity called on EU Member States to fully implement the new Air Quality Directive.
